I have spent a lot of time thinking about holidays over the last two years. While the world stayed inside I dreamed about golden shores, or the wind hitting my face as I went down the slopes, and while I craved a holiday for myself I thought about all of the couples who were unable to go on a honeymoon after finally being able to get married. A honeymoon is the ultimate holiday destination: it needs to be picturesque, and totally take your breath away. That’s why I thought it would be fun to think about where I would go when my time came. Here are my dream honeymoon destinations.

An island paradise
Whenever I think of a honeymoon, one of the first places that springs to mind is somewhere like the Maldives, where you feel like you and your partner are in a world of your own in an island paradise. Picture crystal clear blue seas, looking down at native turtles and other aquatic creatures on your doorstep, and it’s not hard to see why this is an absolute dream for me.
A romantic cruise
One of the most perfect ways to spend my honeymoon would be on an Ambassador Cruise Line holiday. I love the idea of a cruise; everything that you could possibly want is right there for your entire vacation, and you also get to experience a number of new and exciting locations throughout your trip. Cruises are a fantastic way to travel, because you know that room and board is sorted throughout the trip – you leave the itinerary to those running the cruise, and you simply sit back and enjoy the trip.
A breathtaking view
Somewhere around the top of my dream destination list, Canada has always been there waiting for its moment. One of the things I love most about the idea of going to Canada is the breathtaking view that I know I’m going to get to experience. From rocky mountains, to crashing shores, there is something worth seeing wherever you are in Canada, and I have always known that one day I was going to need to go there for a visit. I love the idea of it being the first place I travel to with the person that I marry!
A trip down under
The ultimate holiday destination for many British people, is a trip to Australia. Sure, the flight might take somewhere around 24 hours, and we might all have a quiet fear about meeting a spider the size of your face, but ultimately a trip to Australia would be a life changing experience that would be the perfect way to celebrate a marriage. I’d love for us to do a road trip, Priscilla Queen of the Desert style, or simply stay somewhere near the coast so that I can experience that amazing Southern Hemisphere sunshine.
