I love thinking of new ways to give my home a makeover. From luxury living rooms to boujie bathrooms, I’ve planned my ideal home a hundred times over – but one area that I haven’t paid quite as much attention to, is my garden. Now that I’ve started planning my perfect garden, I’ve come up with a list of my must-haves for that ideal living space. Here are five ideas for a fantastic garden.

Use pallets for growing veggies
While I’m all about making my garden pretty and fun, I definitely want it to be practical too. Ultimately your garden is for growing plants and veggies, and a really easy way to set up plant beds is to use old pallets, which are affordable, easy to source and also look really cool. Grow your own vegetables in your outdoor space to feel incredibly satisfied at how self-sufficient and talented you are.
Put up a climbing frame
When I was younger, one of my favourite things to do in the garden was spend time on the swings. Although I wasn’t the most athletic of children, I loved to be in motion, and going on the swings was such a fun way to listen to some music and process my day. A swing and slide set is such a simple addition to your garden, but a fantastic way to offer a fun element to your outdoor space. The first thing I felt compelled to do when thinking about creating my perfect garden is take a trip over to the Wickey website, so I was thrilled as soon as I saw the swing sets and climbing frames they had to offer, as there is something to suit every size of garden.

Need something a bit more sophisticated? Why not look into relaxing hammocks! Great for kids or just for a nice adult hang out space too.
Give the birds somewhere to eat
Not much is quite as relaxing as sitting outside first thing in the morning, taking in the sunrise and listening to the birds chirping around you. This peaceful moment can only be achieved by having birds being drawn to your garden, which is why it could be a good idea to offer somewhere for the birds to eat and drink in your garden. A traditional approach would be a bird bath, though a simple peanut feeder hanging from a tree is another great way to draw the birds in.
Make a sensory garden
I have always dreamed of creating a sensory garden in my outdoor space. Other than being great for people with various sensory needs, they are really satisfying to look at and listen to – thus the basis of their appeal! To put it simply, a sensory garden must have elements which stimulate the senses; for example, stained glass elements or colourful windmills are fantastic for stimulating sight, while windchimes are excellent for the audio element of your sensory garden. Make sure this area is shaded, and offer comfortable seating like a beanbag so that you can lay back and relax in your sensory space.
Lay some artificial lawn
If you are somebody who loves the look of a neat and tidy garden, but do not have the time or capability to do the upkeep, then artificial lawn is a great option for you. Using artificial lawn in your garden means that the length of colour of your lawn will remain consistent, which means that your garden looks overall more neat and tidy. If you have pets, keep in mind that this may require you to pick up after them more frequently as they will no longer be on natural ground!
