Between the number of people who don’t feel safe to fly because of the pandemic, and those who are struggling because of increasing prices across the UK, now is not a great time to be travelling internationally. However, this doesn’t mean that your Summer won’t be fantastic – there are all kinds of things you can do right here that will keep you safe and keep costs low. Here are five things to do this Summer without going abroad.

Take up geocaching
If you want to spend more time getting outdoors but don’t know the best way to fill your time, then geocaching could be for you. Geocaching has been around for years, and essentially there are online communities who leave small tokens and trinkets in the middle of nowhere, and then share clues as to the location so that you can try and find it. It’s a great way to keep families occupied and working together on long walks, and it’s such a buzz when you find the prize.
Go on a staycation
Just because you’re not going abroad doesn’t mean you can’t have a nice holiday! There are a number of gorgeous places across the United Kingdom that look like they belong in a holiday brochure. Give self catering a go with GuestReady and set yourself up on a little break away from your everyday life. From seaside towns, to city apartments, to forest dwellings, there is something for everybody – you just need to find your perfect match!
Purge your wardrobe
A change of season means a whole new set of clothes are being worn, which is the perfect time to give your wardrobe a bit of a makeover. Get rid of things that you don’t see yourself wearing, or those items of clothes that you’ve held onto just incase you ever fit into them again. Not only is this a great way to free up more space in your home and leave you feeling refreshed, but you may even be able to earn a bit of money for the pleasure if you sell things on.
Set up a date with yourself or find a new friend
We never get to have quality time on our own anymore, so this Summer why not set up a date – with yourself or use a friendship app and find a new friend! Take yourself out to the cinema, or go and get ice cream on the beachfront, whatever you would normally do on a date, do it for yourself! One of the best things to do for self care is to be active, you could even search your local pages for other solos wanting to get active. Perhaps meet up for a game of badmington? Pick up one of the many styles of Badminton Bags and you’re ready to play! There is no better method of self care than making yourself a priority for a whole day, and what’s more exciting than making new friends?
Absolutely nothing!
Of course, if we are talking about self care, this is a great time to remind you that you don’t actually have to fill your time with anything at all. If you’ve got any time off over the Summer, instead of filling it with activities and outings, you could simply let yourself rest. Stick on the aircon, grab some snacks and a couple of movies, and give yourself as long as you need to recharge your batteries – it isn’t every day we have a chance to do that!
